Building on the strong partnership established through our collaboration in 2023, the Moti Cares Foundation was deeply inspired by the tangible impact of the Jan Hofmeyr soup kitchen in Johannesburg – and wholeheartedly committed to joining forces again.

 

The Moti Cares team thus returned to the Jan Hofmeyr community in April 2024 with 1,500 nourishing and hearty food parcels. This event doubled the amount of food donated from the previous year, while bringing together 30 volunteers from Moti Cares, local publishing houses, and the Jan Hofmeyr Recreation Centre to assist in distributing warm meals.

 

Residents were surprised by the welcome treat of steaming bowls of chicken and vegetable soup, generous portions of chicken akni, freshly baked bread, and bottled water – all providing simple but important reminders that they were seen and valued, and that they were not alone.
